Welcoming Winter with Season-Specific Hands-On Bodywork and Gentle Breathing Meditation

  • Yoga Mandali 454 Broadway Saratoga Springs, NY, 12866 United States (map)

Join us for a nurturing class to embrace the change of season, and flow into winter allowing you to surrender with more ease into what is unfolding in your life. Kristin and Sarah have integrated the benefits of relaxing breathwork and meditation with gentle bodywork to encourage the mind and body to fully relax and to invite in the calm and peace that winter represents.

In Classical Chinese Medicine and Yin Yoga, the winter season coincides with the element water, representing the basis for life. As winter approaches, our yang (active) begins to decline, yielding to the growth strength of yin (rest). Water element gives us our will to survive and provides our reservoir for energy. When imbalanced, however, feelings of fear and instability may arise.

Through gentle bodywork, meditation and breathing techniques, this class will work to process and let go of these emotions using the themes of the winter season – the water element acupressure points, yin, and the exhale hold. Rather than resisting change and uncertainty, we will practice yielding to the path of least resistance and to the downward quality of winter.

Our minds and bodies experience similar changes as we move through the seasons. This class will use meditation, pranayama (breathwork), and gentle hands on bodywork to align and balance both the mind and body with the season of nature. Specific meditation and breathwork techniques will be used to find grounding and healing energy within. Rather than resisting change and uncertainty, we practice yielding to the path of least resistance and to the downward quality of winter.

Come prepared to slow down, connect, and welcome the soothing energy of this serene season (once the holidays hurry on by). All levels are welcome!
